iKnee Recovery Journal (Day 16)

Day 16 Recovery

Day 16 — Recovery Day 15 | Saturday, August 15, 2026

“Hello, iKnee people, how you doing? Eric Hansen here. It is Saturday evening, the 15th, and 15 days out of surgery.

Today was a good day. I did a lot more horizontal elevation today. I did three different rounds of extension stretches, but the day was mostly a culmination of what Clint, Shannan, and I have been talking about.

I’ve been working it, working it, and working the knee to get to that extension and get to that flexion; and it’s the edema and the swelling that’s slowing everything up.

So today I just really worked on edema management, swelling management, and kept the leg elevated with no icing, just elevation. With that, I was able to reduce quite a bit of pain and quite a bit of swelling. I pretty much laid down as much as possible with the leg elevated much throughout the day.

Whenever I did get up, it was not painful at all; even the musculature of the thigh and the quadriceps are not as painful as it has been. Hopefully getting the edema out will help everything improve and help us get to the range of motion we want and settle everything down.

It’s been two weeks out, so I know week three and week four will be significant. Hopefully big improvements so we can just work on the stretching process with the extension.

Today I had a great conversation with Dr. Grotz. He called and kind of went over everything. We went over what I’ve been doing over the last two weeks and how it’s been going. I sent him all the different daily logs with the pictures, and he’s got all the videos that we have so far of the three different angles from the surgery.

We did an overall talk of what’s been happening and what we look forward to, so it was a great call. It was good to talk to him. I haven’t seen him or talked to him since the case, so I was happy about that.

Other than that, it was a good, mellow day today, and it will be a nice, mellow day again tomorrow. Sunday, it will be a nice, mellow day again. I plan on doing the same type of elevation, but I’ll probably be sitting on the therapy table a lot more and just working on the stretches throughout the day. No Percocet, and I’ll see how tomorrow goes. Talk to you soon. Bye-bye.”
