Day 17 — Recovery Day 16 | Sunday, August 16, 2026

“Hello, hello, how are you this evening? It is Sunday, August 16th. I am 16 days out of surgery, and today was a good day. Did a lot of work outside on the picnic table. I had my leg up and down quite a bit. I did a few stretch sessions, mostly rest and elevation.

I haven’t iced in probably a week. I’m just doing a lot of elevating and trying to eliminate the swelling. I have Clint coming tomorrow to the house to do physical therapy, and this week we will be focused on eliminating the edema in my leg, mostly the quad.

In my conversation with Dr. Grotz, he brought up something I’m going to start doing, which is measuring the circumference of my knee at the joint, right above the knee, and right below the knee at the calf.

I want to see if those circumferences change over the course of the next few weeks. I wish we were measuring that the whole time, but for my right leg i’ll do it.

Other than that, the pain has been manageable. The swelling has gone down. I’m walking with the cane today more than the walker because I was going outside to the backyard to the picnic table to do work and things. But other than that, it’s kind of like a low-key day; not a lot happened.

I made progression in the edema management and elevation department of the day. I don’t have any measurable report, and Clint comes tomorrow, so I’m sure we will get some. And I’ll check back with you then.

It was just a relaxed day basically on the leg. Kind of a doldrums day. Anyway, talk to you soon. Bye-bye.”
