Day 4 — Recovery Day 3 | Monday, August 3, 2026
“All right everybody, this is day three after the case (Monday, August 3rd). I had a great day today. My stats with Clint, my physical therapist: blood pressure of 122 over 72, extension of -17 degrees, and flexion of 74 degrees. Both are improvements, so I’m happy about that.
I didn’t go upstairs last night. I slept on the couch and was up every other hour, so I didn’t sleep great. But talking to Clint yesterday, he told me not to go up last night, so I stayed on the couch. It worked out, and I did everything I could to keep the tissue from getting angry by avoiding the stairs. I’m excited to go up tonight and hopefully get a good night’s sleep.
Clint arrived around 10:30 this morning and walked me through a few more exercises and some other things to add to my routine.
He brought his therapy table so he could focus on the thigh muscle and surrounding tissue. While working on the quadriceps, he explained that the tourniquet used during the procedure, along with all the stretching and flexing of the knee joint they did to test range of motion, is why the whole thigh is so sore — and that it’s probably going to be the sorest part of this whole process.
The knee itself, honestly, doesn’t have any bone-on-bone pain anymore — the joint itself doesn’t hurt. It’s really just the surrounding tissue that needs to settle down and get back into motion.
He gave me a few other technique recommendations and taught me how to go up and down the stairs using a cane, so I’ll be able to get back to sleeping in my own bed. I’m excited for that.
I skipped IV therapy today because I got busy and didn’t feel like making the drive. Tomorrow’s Tuesday the 4th, and I’ll probably go see Maryum, do the red-light therapy bed, and get the IVs in.
Day three, not bad — still pretty painful through the thigh. I did my exercises; the heel-toe strikes were great. Clint did some active stretching through all my leg motions, from the hamstring to working flexion in the quad.
He made some great comments. He’s a physical therapist who works with total knee patients regularly, and he kept remarking on how smooth the motion felt in my joint, and how quickly the tissue released once I started my exercises. It was a good day for therapy on the leg.
My thigh is still about one and a half times the size of my non-surgical leg because of the swelling, but overall, things are good.
Still getting a lot of calls and texts from investors, friends, and family. I’m very happy with the knee. I’m keeping everything clean. I was able to take all the dressing off today, and now all I have is a small steri-strip along the length of my knee that will fall off on its own.
I’m taking video of all the physical therapy sessions so we can document the different exercises and how many reps per day, so I’ll get all that organized as we keep working. But I’m very, very happy. I still can’t quite believe I have the iKnee in my left leg! It’s still hard to grasp. Very happy, very excited. I’ll check back in with you tomorrow night.”
